* Title : Moving Target Defense (MTD): Recent Advances and Future Challenges
* Abstract :
Moving Target Defense (MTD) is one of promising cyber defense techniques and has been researched recently a lot. The main purpose of MTD is to confuse attackers by changing the attack surface of various systems and networks. This talk will cover the following topics: 1) Introduction to MTD i) three dimensions of MTD (when, how, and what to trigger); ii) MTD techniques in a horizontal/vertical manner; and iii) MTD metrics and MTD-related security and economic metrics 2) The state of the art MTD techniques (with my own research highlights); i) MTD for Cloud ii) MTD for SDN iii) MTD for vehicle networks iv) MTD for IoT 3) On-going MTD research 4) MTD challenges and future directions:
* Bio : Dr Dongseong “Dan” Kim is an Associate Professor at The University of Queensland, Australia (#47, the QS Global World Ranking 2022) since Jan 2019. Prior to UQ, he led the Cybersecurity Lab. at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand from August 2011 to December 2018. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Postdoc in Hudson Chaired Prof. Kishor S. Trivedi (IEEE fellow, the IEEE 2008 Technical Achievement Award recipient)’s research group at Duke University. He was a visiting scholar in Prof. Virgil D. Gligor (currently with the Carnegie Mellon University in the US, former ACM SIGSAC chair, the IEEE 2013 Technical Achievement Award Recipient)'s Research Group at the University of Maryland in 2007.
