HOMEGraduate School/Education Admissions
About the Department
  • · There are participations of professors in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, and Environmental Engineering, which are the core of 4th BK 21 program, as well as professors in Energy, Policy, Economy, and Engineering.
  • · In the Department, there has been a conversion to a complex and diversified energy education utilizing knowledge from diverse fields such as Science, Technology, and Economy, from energy education limited to traditional academic fields. And the Department aims to progress programs that link and integrate advanced technologies such as nano scientific technology, new scientific technology based on technology convergence, and energy economy and policy.
Research Areas
  • · Major in Energy Physics: Nanostructure/Nanocomposite Material Synthesis (nanotube/wire/rod/particle synthesis, and CNT-based composite material), Nanomaterial Manipulation and Diagnosis (SPM, nano-bio, nano-transistor, and plasma diagnosis), Photon/Femto Technology (complex media wave propagation, photon band/crystal, nonlinear optical properties, ultra-short spectroscopy, and photon energy conversion), Display/Lighting and Solar Cell (field emission, OLED/OTFT, high-efficiency photoelectric material, and solar cell).
  • · Major in Energy Chemistry: Electrochemistry (secondary battery), Plasma Chemistry (hydrogen production), CO2 Conversion Technology (catalyst), New Material Chemistry (oxide magnetic materials, ion conductors, and lithium battery electrode materials), Solid Chemistry (material chemistry, and new energy/hydrogen storage materials).
  • · Major in Energy and Chemical Engineering: Plasma Process Application (integrated circuit/MEMS/process technology development for an optical device, and semiconductor wiring process), Material Process (CVD/plasma reactor/electrochemical system/flow system modeling and analysis), Clean Chemical Process (catalytic chemistry, and eco-friendly chemical process), Functional Materials (thermoelectric conversion material, ferrite nanopowder, and electronic ceramics).
  • · Major in Energy Materials Engineering: Photo/Electric Catalyst, Artificial Photosynthesis, Nano-electronic Materials, Functional Materials, Lightweight Materials, and Hydrogen Production.
  • · Major in Energy and Environmental Engineering: Sustainable Catalyst Technology, Waste-to-Resources, and Thermochemical Process.
  • · Major in Energy: Electric Energy (nuclear reactor improvement, and AMBIDEXTER concept research), Energy Process (energy production technology and GHG prevention technology-related design), Energy Modeling (energy economy/policy model learning and econometric empirical analysis), Energy System Analysis (economic evaluation, energy-environment correlation analysis, future technology prediction and technology management, and global warming ripple effects).
Eligibility
  • · Applicants should graduate from a four-year college or higher educational institution in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Economics, and similar Science and Engineering Studies (e.g., Electronic Engineering) or Social Science and Business.

※ Award Master's/Ph.D. Degrees of Science, Engineering, and Economics depending on the students’ detailed majors.
