History

The Department of Energy started offering a master’s program in 1988 for the first time in South Korea, with a doctoral program operating since 1991.

The current energy issue requires a complex approach, including technology, economy, society, and culture; thus, an integrated and systemic approach is crucial. Outstanding talents with diverse undergraduate backgrounds will be trained through an interdisciplinary and poly-disciplinary approach to become future leaders/experts in energy and climate change fields with practical problem-solving skills and future-oriented research and management capabilities. As a part of these efforts, there will be more exchange programs and credit recognition systems for professors and students with internationally leading universities and research institutes related to energy and climate change, promoting information, education, and research related materials.
