Ajou University School of Business and the Daewoo World Management Research Association (DWMRA) have signed an educational agreement. Based on this agreement, the two organizations will work closely to develop the management skills of the graduates of the DWMRA's "Global Young Business Manager (GYBM)" program.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at Yulgok Hall, and was attended by Ajou University President Choi Ki-ju and DWMRA President Jang Byung-joo. From Ajou University, Dean Sung Min-jae, Director of International Cooperation Kang Shin-gu, and Director of International Education Lee Dong-ryul. From the DWMRA, Vice President Park Chang-wook was also present.

The "Global Young Business Manager (GYBM)" program is a global project operated by the DWMRA, which was initiated by the late Kim Woo-jung, chairman of the Daewoo Group and founder of the Daewoo Educational Foundation, in 2011.

GYBM started in Vietnam and expanded to Indonesia and Myanmar. It was established to train Korean youth to be leaders with a global mindset and entrepreneurial spirit. The trainees receive intensive education in language, global competencies, leadership competencies, and job competencies for one year. So far, over 1,300 graduates have been produced, and the graduates are actively working in companies in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Myanmar, and Indonesia.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will work together to develop the management skills of GYBM graduates. They plan to actively promote GYBM graduates for the recruitment of MBA freshmen, provide scholarships, and jointly develop and operate non-degree programs.

President Choi Ki-ju said, "Ajou University's School of Business plans to export the MBA curriculum and operate the local online MBA based on the know-how of the first online MBA program in Korea. We will do our best to realize the challenge spirit of Daewoo and the university philosophy of Ajou University, which is a global family."

DWMRA President Jang Byung-joo said, "I hope that many GYBM graduates who are interested in developing professional skills will study in the MBA program of the School of Business based on this agreement. In addition, I hope that Ajou University students will show their interest and participation in the "Global Young Business Manager" program that the DWMRA is running."

아주대학교 경영대학원과 (사)대우세계경영연구회가 교육 협약을 체결했다. 이번 협약을 기반으로 두 기관은 대우세계경영연구회가 운영하는 '청년 사업가 양성과정(Global Young Business Manager, GYBM)' 동문들의경영 분야 역량 개발을 위해 긴밀히 협력할 예정이다.

율곡관에서 열린 이번 협약식에는 아주대학교 최기주 총장과 (사)대우세계경영연구회 장병주 회장이 참석해, 협약서에 서명하고 이를 교환했다. 아주대학교에서는 성민제 경영대학원장, 강신구 국제협력처장, 이동렬 국제교육센터장이 (사)대우경영연구회에서는 박창욱 부회장이 함께 자리했다.

'글로벌 청년 사업가 양성과정(Global Young Business Manager,GYBM)'은 (사)대우세계경영연구회가 운영하는 글로벌 사업으로, 고 김우중 대우그룹 회장(학교법인 대우학원 설립자)이 지난 2011년부터 애정을 갖고 진행했던 프로젝트다.

GYBM은 베트남에서 시작해 인도네이사와 미얀마까지 확대되었으며, 대한민국 청년들을 글로벌 마인드와 기업가 정신을 갖춘 리더로 육성하기 위해 개설됐다. 교육생들은 1년간의 기간 동안 ▲어학 ▲글로벌 역량 ▲리더십 역량 ▲직무 역량 등의 집중 교육을 받는다. 지금까지 1300여명의 졸업생이 배출됐고, 졸업생들은 베트남, 미얀마, 인도네이사 등 동남아 국가의 기업에 진출해 활발히 활동하고 있다. 

이번 협약을 통해 두 기관은 GYBM 동문들의 경영 분야 전문 역량 개발을 위해 협력에 나선다. MBA 신입생 유치를 위해 GYBM 동문들에 대한 적극적인 홍보 활동을 추진하고 장학 혜택 제공과 비학위과정 개발 및 운영 등에 함께 나설 계획이다.

최기주 총장은 "아주대 경영대학원은 한국 대학 최초의 온라인 MBA 개설 및 과정 운영을 통한 노하우를 바탕으로 베트남 MBA 교육과정 수출 및 현지 온라인 MBA 운영을 진행하고자 한다"며 "대우의 도전정신과 아주대의 세계일가라는 대학 이념이 실현될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 전했다.

장병주 (사)대우세계경영연구회 회장은 "이번 협약을 기반으로 전문 역량 개발에 관심이 높은 많은 GYBM 동문들이 경영대학원 MBA 과정에서 수학하기를 바란다"며 "더불터 대우세계경영연구회가진행하고 있는 글로벌 청년 사업가 양성과정(Global Young Business Manager)에 대한 아주대학교 학생들의 많은 관심과 참여를 희망한다"고 말했다.
