On February 28, 2023, Ajou University donated 16,155,000 won to the Gyeonggi Provincial Red Cross to help with the recovery from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The funds will be used to provide emergency relief supplies and on-site recovery support to the victims through the Gyeonggi Provincial Red Cross.

Ajou University held a fundraising event from February 14 to 20 to help with the recovery and recovery of Turkey and Syria. A total of 381 people participated and raised 16,155,000 won.

In the meantime, a meeting with Turkish students was also held to help students stabilize and check on the damage to their families and relatives.

On February 23, President Choi Ki-ju met with Turkish students in his office and talked to them. Ajou University has 10 Turkish students, including exchange students and undergraduate and graduate students. Ajou University has sisterhood agreements with three Turkish universities, including Erciyes University.

President Choi Ki-ju said, "I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Turkish people who have lost their families, friends, and homes." I hope that the sincerity and heart of the Ajou members will be of some help, and we will actively provide the necessary help and support to the Turkish students of our university. "

Ozer Zeynep (Ozer Zeynep, Korean name Kang Bora), a graduate student in the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Ajou University, said, "I would like to express my gratitude for the university's careful consideration for Turkish students." 우리 학교 구성원들이 대지진으로 큰 피해를 입은 튀르키예·시리아를 돕기 위해 모금한 성금을 대한적십자사 경기도지사에 전달했다. 

우리 학교는 지난 28일 튀르키예·시리아 대지진 피해 복구를 돕기 위해 모금한 성금 1615만5000원을 대한적십자사 경기도지사에 전달했다. 성금은 대한적십자사 경기도지사를 통해 이재민을 위한 긴급 구호물품 전달과 현장 복구 지원 등에 사용될 예정이다. 

우리 학교는 튀르키예·시리아의 피해 복구와 일상 회복을 돕기 위해 지난 14일부터 20일까지 교수와 직원, 학생들을 대상으로 모금을 진행했다. 총 381명이 참여해 1615만5000원을 모금했다.

한편 학생들의 안정을 돕고 가족·친지들의 피해 상황을 살피기 위해 튀르키예 국적의 학생들과의 간담회도 마련했다. 

지난 23일 최기주 총장이 총장실에서 튀르키예 학생들을 직접 만나 이야기를 나눴다. 우리 학교에는 교환학생과 학부·대학원 유학생을 포함한 10명의 튀르키예 학생들이 재학 중이다. 아주대는 에르지에스대학을 비롯한 3곳의 튀르키예 대학과 자매결연을 맺고 있다.  

최기주 총장은 “가족과 친구, 그리고 삶의 터전을 잃은 튀르키예 국민들에게 깊은 위로를 전한다”며 “아주 구성원들의 정성과 마음이 조금이나마 도움이 되기를 바라며, 우리 대학의 튀르키예 학생들에게도 필요한 도움과 지원을 적극 제공하겠다”고 말했다. 

우리 학교 대학원 국어국문학과에 재학 중인 오제르 제이넵(OZER ZEYNEP, 한국이름 강보라) 학생은 “튀르키예 학생들에 대한 대학 차원의 세심한 배려에 고마움을 전하고 싶다”며 “아주가족을 비롯한 많은 한국 시민들의 정성과 위로, 여러 실질적 도움에도 튀르키예 학생을 대표해 감사드린다”고 말했다.
